5/24/2023 0 Comments The Quiet Game by Greg Iles![]() Like most long and drawn out novels, there is some fluff that could have been cut out. This story has racial issues, political intrigue and a few murders. Greg Iles' writing reminds me of Grisham in that the plot has many strings tugging the main character in different directions while moving forward. As I’m pretty good at guessing the ‘Who did it.’ In my opinion you will not be disappointed in this novel. As a mystery I was never sure what direction it was going in, which is amazing to me. The quiet game is definitely worth the listen. This did not hinder any of his narrating in this book, I enjoyed his narration completely. But keep in mind not everyone can do both sexes of voices. Although he can work on his female voices. His male voice is quite soothing and a little bit sexy. ![]() Tom’s narration in this book was very very good. I hope the rest of his books will draw me in as well. I believe I will listen to more of his writings, as I was very much drawn into his story. ![]() Greg was a great change of genre from the romance books I have been listening to lately. ![]() Second first time hearing Tom Stechschulte narrate. First this was the first book written by Greg Iles I have listened to or read. ![]()

She has brought back her loyal dog Kirby and several other animals, but she is careful to observe the most important rule of ghost-raising: never, ever, wake up human ghosts because they are highly destructive and evil. Ellie is able to “wake up,” or raise ghosts from the underworld. In this America, magic, monsters, and ghosts have shaped the country, and for the Lipan Apache people, ghost-training is a long-held family tradition. Seventeen-year-old Elatsoe, or Ellie, lives with her parents in an alternate version of America. This guide references the ebook edition from the Arthur A. Elatsoe is a novel about grief, family, love, letting go, justice, revenge, honoring tradition, and empowerment. ![]() ![]() Set in an alternative version of America full of monsters, magic, and interdimensional beings, Elatsoe follows the story of 17-year-old Ellie as she tries to uncover the truth about her cousin’s murder with the help of her best friend, her family, and her loyal ghost dog, Kirby. ![]() ![]() The second source of presidential power is a president’s ability to get things out of Congress. One very good example would be Franklin Roosevelt saying, in effect, in 1940: "You may not want to get prepared for a possible war in Europe and Asia, but this is something I’ve thought a lot about, and this is a sacrifice that we may have to make." Another example would be a president’s appeal for a painful tax increase to achieve a balanced budget. The first is the president’s ability to go to the American people and ask them for something, especially sacrifice. Much of the power of the presidency comes not from what is in the Constitution but from two other sources. They made sure that there were checks against presidential power, one of them being impeachment, and they were very worried about the idea of a president who would do too much. They did not want another king of England they did not want a dictator. For most of American history, the presidency has been a weak office, and that was very much in keeping with what the Framers intended. ![]() 5/24/2023 0 Comments Outlander tell the bees![]() ![]() It is 1779 and Claire and Jamie are at last reunited with their daughter, Brianna, her husband, Roger, and their children on Fraser's Ridge. The Iliad, and the Odyssey, were likely written down in Homeric Greek, a literary amalgam of Ionic Greek and other dialects, probably around the late 8th or early 7th century BC. ![]() ![]() The Iliad is often regarded as the first substantial piece of European literature. In particular, it depicts a fierce quarrel between King Agamemnon and a celebrated warrior, Achilles. Set towards the end of the Trojan War, a ten-year siege of the city of Troy by a coalition of Mycenaean Greek states, the poem depicts significant events in the siege's final weeks. It contains 15,693 lines in its most widely accepted version. As with the Odyssey, the poem is divided into 24 books and was written in dactylic hexameter. It is one of the oldest extant works of literature still widely read by modern audiences. The Iliad ( / ˈ ɪ l i ə d/ Ancient Greek: Ἰλιάς, romanized: Iliás, Attic Greek: "a poem about Ilium") is one of two major ancient Greek epic poems attributed to Homer. ![]() 5/24/2023 0 Comments Southern Spirits by Angie Fox![]() ![]() Verity isn’t above questioning the living, or the dead. 14 Books 1 Southern Spirits Angie Fox From 10.
